October 1st

Our Last Day

The 1st was the last day of our vacation, and we took leave of our B&B and headed to Cork, where we were to catch the plane very early on the 2nd.

The "Queen" room :)

We visited the Cork County Gaol, and rented some audio guides, which were well worth the money.

The audio guide concluded that the only crime that most of those in the jail had committed was to be "born poor," as many of them were put in for petty thefts. Apparently the Gaol hasn't changed much, because a sign in the gift shop warned shoplifters that CCTV was in use. Apparently being born poor is still a crime.

We did some shopping and bought some souvenirs with some of our last euros. and spent the night at Park Inn, Strangely, after all of our adventures, it was checking in at the Inn which made Susie and I feel most independent and very old.

We left early the next morning, and had a long flight home.
